RE: Recording Fee Increase

Dear Associates:

Effective June 1, 2004, the cost of recording documents in the Official Records will be $10.00 for the first page and $8.50 for each page thereafter, except in a few counties where there is already an additional surcharge, in which case the increase is $4.00 per page.  Please note that the increase does not apply to: (1) recording of a judgment, received from the court; and, (2) a notice of Lis Pendens.

Be advised that if you deliver documents to a recording office in late May and the recording office due to its work load and staffing is not able to record those documents until June 1 or thereafter, you can expect those documents to be returned to you for an additional charge.

You may wish to assess the increased service charge on all closings which you forward for recording which you do not expect to have the recording finalized before June 1, 2004.
