Many of us have found unreleased Deeds of Trust when we "know" the debt has been paid but the lien not released of record and the Lender involved has been taken over by the Resolution Trust Corporation. You can send any evidence of payment you have, such as a payoff letter from the lender, a copy of the canceled check paying off the loan, and/or a HUD-I showing payment to the address listed below to obtain a release. If you do not have the evidence of payment, but due to the facts of a particular situation believe the debt has been paid, make your request for a release to the same office.
