RE: New Format - Land Record Documents Effective October 1, 2008

Dear Associates:

Connecticut General Statutes §7-24 has been amended by Public Act 07-252 (House Bill 7163) to require that effective October 1, 2008, each instrument to be recorded on the land records shall contain:

1) A return address and addressee at the top of the front side of the first page; and

2) A blank margin at least .75 inches wide surrounding each page.

The new law also provides a savings clause in that the Town Clerk is prohibited from refusing to receive an instrument for recording that does not conform to these requirements and the validity or priority of such a recorded nonconforming instrument is not affected.
