On November 8, 2011, a Special Library Tax was approved by voters in the City of Pittsburgh. The purpose of this special tax is to generate revenue to support the operation of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh library system.
This tax will be collected by the City of Pittsburgh Finance Department on behalf of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, and is due concurrent with the City of Pittsburgh Real Property Taxes. This Special Library Tax will be treated in the same manner as Real Property Taxes, and failure to pay by the property owner will result in a lien against the real property. When insuring transactions in the City of Pittsburgh, please be sure to take into account and address the Special Library Tax.
