We have been informed that Mecklenburg County, NC, servers have been hacked and many of the county’s systems have been affected. Of significant interest, real estate tax records are unavailable. Stewart has been in contact with Mecklenburg County, and the representative advises that the situation may persist through the end of the month or longer.
Without Stewart Underwriting Counsel approval, until the issue is resolved by the county, you may not issue any policies for closings which have not yet occurred for which you do not have a previously provided tax receipt on property in Mecklenburg County.
