RE: UNDERWRITING - Information about Jackson County Clerk's Office

Dear Associates:

We have been made aware of a ransomware attack to Jackson County computers May 29, 2019, which affected the Jackson County Clerks property records system. www.jacksonconews.com/news/county-computers-infected-malware.

We are advised that the clerk is accepting documents for recording and is time stamping them in the order they are received. The documents will be recorded in the computer system as per the date on the manual date and time stamp.

The last effective date of the computer system is May 13, 2019. We are not aware of a definite date as to when the records would be brought current or when the records will be available to update title company plants.

The county clerk's office advised that in person record searches are available and that the effective date is up to June 20, 2019. Therefore, without an in person search or until the title plants are properly updated, we can only issue policies with a date of policy of May 13, 2019.
