UNDERWRITING - Examining and Recording in Southampton County Clerk’s Office
Dear Associates:
We have been advised that the Southampton County Clerk’s Office will be closed from 12/2 -12/14/2021 for renovations and will not be processing recordings during that time.
Stewart agents may continue to close and disburse transactions in Southampton County during the closure provided that you:
- Update title online as far as possible and promptly submit closing documents for e-Recording and maintain a copy of the title update in your file.
- Verify your e-Recording shortly after the clerk reopens and update title from the date of e-Recording submission to the date and time of actual recordation by the clerk.
- Obtain Stewart Title Owner’s Affidavit which includes a gap indemnity.
- Obtain the attached Agreement to Close and Disburse Prior to Recordation from all parties listed thereon acknowledging the settlement agent is disbursing prior to recordation.
