Dear Associates:
As you may be aware the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) recently approved a 10% rate reduction to be effective later this year. However, the Texas Land Title Association (TLTA) officially filed an appeal against TDI’s decision, seeking to overturn the rate reduction and requesting to temporarily delay the implementation of the new rates until the court reaches a decision.
Accurate and timely data from the 2024 statistical reports will be important in the appeal process. We want to point out that there is an expedited period in which to file the report and TDI has indicated that they will not grant any extensions and will send anyone who does not comply to enforcement. This year, there are only 25 days, including weekends, to complete the report. All 2024 title agent statistical reports will be due April 8, 2025.
