Stewart Title Guaranty Company (“STG” or “Company”) is filing a new amended Schedule of Charges and Forms for Title Insurance in the State of California ("STGC Manual"). This STGC Manual is pending California Department of Insurance approval, anticipated to become effective for orders opened on or after June 16, 2025; please post as required. Attached are the links for your convenience. (Click here to view a copy of the “Redline” and the “Accepted” versions).
Aside from updates to the Table of Contents and some minor formatting changes, there are changes to three sections. For your convenience, the following is a list of the substantive changes:
(1) Section 6 – Trustee’s Sale Guarantee – this section is being moved into Section 9 – Guarantees as sub-section 9.14. In addition, STG simplified the charges for TSGs by removing the chart and offering two different TSG charges, i.e., one for Centralized Processing and one for standard process, that are simply a percentage of the Applicable Rate.
(2) Section 9 – Guarantees – this entire section is being completely overhauled. The Guarantee’s have been reorganized in numeric order of the Guarantee products and each section has a description of the Guarantee product. The new Guarantee forms have already been filed by the California Land Title Association on behalf of its member companies, including STG, and were effective for use last month. There are some new Guarantee products, and some Guarantee products were archived – a couple removed from the Rate Manual, and a few were retained for use by STG and its agents; Section 9 has been updated accordingly.
(3) Section 10 – Endorsements – there were a few changes to this section to reflect some recently revised endorsement forms and to include a few new endorsements. The replacement and new endorsement forms were filed by the California Land Title Association on behalf of its member companies, including STG, and were effective for use last month. Section 10 has been updated accordingly.
